No daily sketch today. (I did one but I'm not at all happy with it) so instead have an embroidery update.

Today's and yesterday's.
This is actually two days of sketching. I'm very happy with how it's turned out. I think it would make a very good embroidery.
The text in the background is Jack Kerouac's "On the Road" The section in blue is the Milky Way.
I'm just testing out some color ideas and design for a vest. I like the orange against the red and the purple I also like the way I represented pearls .
I do need to find a better way of representing shadows and highlights.
Trying out some ideas.
A few more color studies, and the tools I use.
Inspiration for the sketch. I'm contemplating a competition piece
It's a basic color study.

This would be fun to do, as an embroidery.
Progress on the vest. I removed the gold spirals, that weren't working for me. I'll probably remove the blue blobs, and put them back in, after the background is done. (In wool, instead of cotton)
Progress photos. The vest is moving along.
On the right is today's sketch, and the photo that inspired it.
I forgot how much I enjoy stitching holes.
I'm fairly happy with this.
I'm not sure why my pictures are sideways. Anyways, I'm starting the detached buttonhole, to make a flexible, organic, surface.
This is a piece I'm calling "Pandora's Purse"
working up a mock up in craft paper
I woke this morning with a strong idea "Pandora's Purse" and for the mock up craft paper is a good substitute for stiffened fabric.

I had initially planned to work this in DMC. But, I realized that I would be happier working in my normal way.
